Our team is dedicated to you and your education. What sets us apart is that in our own lives we strive to achieve the best results possible for ourselves. This directly translates to the work we will put into ensuring that you also are able to reach your maximum potential.
Our tutors all graduated from high school with honours with distinction. We are currently studying at the University of Alberta, pursuing our unique interests in our respective fields. All of us have tutored or given help before, either through other companies, through our high school, or independently. Strive Tutoring is built off of this rock solid team, and we truly believe that we can find the perfect fit for you. We’d love for you to learn more about us below.
Ishaq Lee Son
Ishaq is the proud founder of Strive Tutoring. Graduating Scona in 2020, he is currently studying at the University of Alberta in the Honours Mathematical Physics program. He enjoys hiking, backpacking, skiing, playing the piano and guitar, and competing in volleyball. Ishaq has claimed to make the best grilled cheese you will ever taste, so if anybody would like to challenge him for that please do.

Spencer Olson
Spencer graduated from Lillian Osborne High School in 2021 and is now in his second year of the Honours Mathematical Physics program at the University of Alberta. He spends his free time watching sports, playing video games, and going to the ODR to play hockey. When Edmonton isn’t frozen over you can find him outside going for a run or a bike ride.

Alexander Nichols
Alexander or "Xander” attended Scona for high school, he is now in his third year of Engineering at the University of Alberta, studying biomedical engineering. When Xander isn’t in class you can see him on the ultimate frisbee field or grinding Halo in his living room. Xander is our resident vegetarian with the only meat he’s ever eaten being fish, and he would like to make it very clear it was only one time.

JJ Diaz
JJ attends the University of Alberta in Honours Physiology, he graduated Strathcona in 2020. He is a huge marvel fan and vows to one day travel to Paris with Captain America and the Winter Soldier. JJ enjoys playing ultimate frisbee, creating in minecraft, or exploring Edmonton for the best places to eat. He is our organic chemistry wizard so has mastered not only everything to do with carbon, but also draws the nicest hexagons you’ll ever see.

Monica Figueroa
Monica is a third year Honours Physics student at the University of Alberta. Monica came from Columbia to graduate Strathcona in 2020. In her free time she enjoys walking outside, reading, and baking. Allegedly, she makes the best cinnamon buns in Edmonton, so if you ever want a sweet treat she’s your girl. Please also feel free to challenge her for that crown.

Hannah Perry
Hannah is in her third year of a BKin/BEd degree at the University of Alberta. She graduated from Ross Sheppard High School in 2020. Hannah enjoys running with her dog in the river valley, hiking, and secretly indulging in country music. If she's not out doing one of these things, there's a good chance you'll find her parked in a Remedy somewhere, chai latte in hand.

Sophia Ezekowitz
Sophia graduated from Strathcona High School in 2021. She is currently studying at the University of Alberta in an Honours Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science and Conservation Biology. She spends her free time powerlifting, reading, and walking her dog Em. Weekends that she isn’t studying you can catch her in the mountains canoeing, snowboarding and backpacking. If she sticks around town she is likely spending way too much money on Star Wars Lego.

Evan Yeremy
Evan graduated from Archbishop O’Leary High-school in 2019 and is currently a 4th year Honours Astrophysics student at the University of Alberta. In his spare time he enjoys golfing at the Highlands Golf Club where he works in the summer. He is also an avid Star Wars movie watcher and lego builder. He loves learning and especially loves teaching and helping other students understand math and physics.

Matthew Lang
Matt graduated from Ross Sheppard High School in 2019 and is now in his fourth year of an Honours Astrophysics program at the University of Alberta. When Matthew isn't doing physics or looking up into space he is often out exploring hiking trails or swimming. He used to be a national level competitive swimmer and is willing to race anyone.

Yemi Shoyele
Yemi graduated Strathcona High School in 2021. She currently is in her second year of a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering, she is in the Co-op degree, so is hoping to get some cool job opportunities with that to go along with her love for coding.

Liam Deagle
Liam is currently in his final year of a Specialization in Physics degree at the University of Alberta. A proud Vancouver Islander, he graduated from Timberline Secondary in 2018 and (used) to enjoy classic island activities such as surfing and above zero temperatures in the winter. Nowadays Liam spends his free time outdoors hiking and birding, and his time indoors is spent watching Lord of the Rings, playing chess, and building Lego.
